Molecular Analysis of Parapoxvirus Detected in Eight Calves in Japan
نویسندگان
چکیده
Molecular analysis of parapoxvirus envelope genes was performed. Parapoxvirus DNA was detected in eight calves from eight farms in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, between April and September 2010. Seven of the detected viruses were identified as bovine papular stomatitis virus (BPSV) by sequencing, because their nucleotide identity was more than 96.8% similar compared with BPSV strain V660. Among them, two formed a subgroup, because their amplicons were digested with Xmn I (a marker for BPSV) and Hinc II and exhibited a T61C nucleotide substitution in the sequenced region. The remaining virus was pseudocowpox virus that had not been reported previously in Japan. Our results demonstrate the presence of a new BPSV variant in Japan with genetic variability in the envelope gene.

Molecular typing of group A bovine rotavirus of calves in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin
BACKGROUND: Group A bovine rotavirus (BRV-A) is one of the most important causes of gastroenteritis and diarrhea in newborn calves. OBJECTIVES: Major types of BRV-A in Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin were detected in this study. METHODS: A total 125 fecal samples of calves showing clinical signs of diarrhea were collected from 26 industrial dairy farms located in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz and Q...
متن کاملDetection and Identification of Enzootic Bovine Leukosis (EBL) in Calves in Iran
Enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL) is known as bovine lymphosarcoma and normally affects the old cattle. EBL is caused by bovine leukemia virus (BLV), which is generally spread all around the world. This virus is transmitted via bovine blood products within and between cattle herds. Glycoprotein GP51 in the blood is responsible for cattle immune responses to BLV. This virus has been previously dete...
متن کاملA Multi-locus Study for Detection of Cryptosporidium Species Isolated from Calves Population, Liverpool UK
Cryptosporidium is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite infecting a wide range of hosts. The current study investigated the genetic profile of Cryptosporidium species in calves in Liverpool, England. Fifty-two calve fecal samples were collected from a farm and initially screened by Auramine phenol, modified Ziehl-Neelsen and ELISA. PCR analysis of 18S rRNA gene was carried out for the p...
متن کاملThermoregulatory Mechanisms of Jersey Adult Cattle and Calves Based on Different Body Sites Temperature
In this experiment six healthy adult dairy Jersey cattles and eight calves (aged 4-6 months) were selected to measure temperature of different body skin sites, rectal temperature, respiration and heart rates during summer and winter. Body sites maximum and minimum temperature in calves during summer belonged to the ear, forehead, right flank, abdomen (38.4-38.9 ˚C) and carpus (32 ˚C). This was ...
متن کاملMolecular characterization of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli isolated from neonatal calves diarrhea
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) produces different virulence factors allowing the bacterium to colonize and develop watery diarrhea. Proteomics studies have also introduced new protein belonging to the secretion pathways, antigen 43 (Ag43), which plays important role in E. coli pathogenesis. The objective of this study was to investigate O-types and virulence factors o...
